I’m taking on an epic challenge this March – and I would love support.

 It's time to help others

This March, I'm taking on a month-long fitness challenge, Kilometres for Kids, to support some of the sickest children in Aotearoa - those in Starship Hospital.

When kids arrive at Starship, they're often facing the scariest moments of their lives. Your donation supports the incredible staff to provide specialist treatment and the wraparound care that makes hospital less scary.

✨ Your gift could:
$30 fund a Buzzy Bee device to ease pain and anxiety
$50 help a Play Specialist support a child through treatment
$100 help train specialist paediatric nurses

Every kilometre I move is for these incredible kids — and I'd love your support

My Updates

166km in a weekend. Against 86km in a month. My awe for a friend knows no bounds

Tuesday 17th Feb

As many of you know I am walking 86km before the end of March to raise funds for Starship Hospital here in Aotearoa New Zealand. It's the second time I've done it and I'm enjoying coopting some of you into walking meetings so I can get the K's done and sort out some business stiff at the same time.

This weekend was one of contrasts for me. My kids had a friend's party, and it was while doing my parental bit of standing around looking like I was enjoying seeing the volume of sugar being consumed by my two 6 yr olds when one of the parents came up to me and told me their story about their son being a Starship baby. It brings it home to you that I'm doing a good thing. And you of course can help.

And then I watched over the weekend as a friend of mine ran/walked/crawled 166km in a race in and around Rotorua. And boy does that make you feel like 86km in a month isn't such a tough ask.

Anyhow it's about the kids so I'd like your help to raise some funds. Here's the QR code.

Anything helps. However small or large.

Thanks

Practicing Hard - and it hurts a bit

Tuesday 10th Feb
So, walking 85km in a month doesn't sound too much. Except I've decided that it is largely on top of my daily movement so all of a sudden, we're talking early morning walks in the dark, long hauls at lunchtime and some evening challenges.

But it's worth it. The chance to brighten the lives of sick kids really is a no brainer for me.

One of my children spent 2 days in neonatal intensive care days after being born. This was an incredibly difficult time for all of us as a family, tougher I am sure on my wife, but one that raised my consciousness of the needs of kids and their families as they go through one of the most challenging times many will have.
And having moved to Aotearoa New Zealand, I've decided to do something about it.
In my own small way I am trying to help. If you can contribute any amount of support that would be great.
It's for the kids
