Inspire teamwork and boost wellbeing in your workplace this March!

Join Kilometres for Kids and rally your colleagues to set distance goals, challenge each other, and raise vital funds together.

By taking part, your organisation will make a powerful statement of support for sick and injured children across Aotearoa.

Why your workplace should get involved

Walking for Kilometres for Kids isn’t just good for your health, it’s good for your team spirit.
When your workplace laces up together, you’re not only boosting wellbeing and connection, but also helping take children from across Aotearoa New Zealand to Starship for urgent medical care.

It’s an easy, uplifting way to get your team moving, talking, and giving back – one step at a time.

Build connection and purpose

Shared goals create stronger teams. Walking for Starship gives colleagues something to rally around and feel proud of together.

Boost wellbeing at work

Encourage your team to stretch their legs, clear their minds, and feel good knowing every kilometre helps kids get the care they need.

Make movement part of your culture

Turn everyday activity into something meaningful. Celebrate progress, swap walking routes, and cheer each other on as you hit milestones.

Add a dose of fun and friendly rivalry

Challenge other teams or departments to see who can cover the most kilometres or raise the most funds. A bit of healthy competition keeps everyone stepping up!

“It was encouraging to see folks out for a stroll during lunch, and everyone really got behind it. At times, it even became a little competitive! Organising a meet-up at the Domain on the final Sunday of the challenge was a major highlight for me. Try to get a team together. You would be surprised at how much interest there could be. It’s as simple as sending an email around the office. You can’t lose anything! The entire experience was wonderful, a worthy cause.”

How to Fundraise with Your Team

Walk to your strengths

Everyone brings something different to the team - the organiser, the motivator, the spreadsheet master. Use each person’s skills to plan walks, track progress, and rally donations!

Make it a team effort

Fundraising’s easier - and way more fun - when everyone’s involved. Share the tasks and take turns planning mini events each week, like a coffee morning walk, raffle, or casual Friday challenge. When the effort is shared, the fun grows - and so do the donations.

Think outside the box

Keep things playful and unexpected! Host a karaoke showdown, auction off naming rights to your team, or promise a funny dare if you hit your goal. Surprising your supporters keeps everyone watching, and donating.

Spark some friendly competition

Challenge your teammates with light-hearted competition and small prizes. For example, the person who covers the most kilometres in a week could score a $5 donation from everyone else in the team. A little rivalry can go a long way towards doing big things for Starship kids!

Employer Dollar Matching

Want to make every kilometre count twice? Many workplaces offer matched giving programmes that can instantly double your fundraising impact for Kilometres for Kids.

Here’s how it works: your workplace matches every dollar your team raises - helping keep Starship’s National Air Ambulance flying 24/7 to transport critically ill and injured children from across Aotearoa New Zealand to Starship for urgent medical care.

So if your team raises $1,000, your workplace could match it with another $1,000. That’s $2,000 powering Starship’s flying intensive care unit to reach tamariki who need it most.

Not sure if your workplace offers matched giving? Chat to your HR or leadership team and ask if they’d consider supporting your team’s efforts. Even if a formal programme doesn’t exist, many workplaces are open to matching donations when asked — and your initiative could inspire them to start!
