Sick children like Cooper need your help
Cooper was just two-and-a-half when he first came to Starship after weeks of illness with no answers. He was rushed there by the Starship Air Ambulance, where the PICU team gave him life-saving care. Over the years, Cooper was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition and became a regular visitor to Starship for treatment. Despite being unwell, he faced it all with courage — loving the helicopters, therapy dogs, and playrooms.
In November 2024, at just seven years old, Cooper sadly passed away. His family honoured his memory by joining Kilometres for Kids, raising $11,000 to support other children needing Starship’s specialist care.
“The care we received from the doctors and nurses was amazing. Even when they had to deliver difficult information to us as parents it was done with honesty and compassion. They took such good care of Cooper and always made sure we were looked after too.”
- Helen, Cooper’s mum
