I’m taking on an epic challenge this March – and I would love support.

I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge, Kilometres for Kids, to help keep Starship’s National Air Ambulance flying to children across the country who are critically ill or injured.

If you can, please donate to help me raise money for this incredible service, the only flying Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in Aotearoa. It’s on call 24/7 – and a specialist flight crew can be in the air in a matter of minutes.

Donate now to help save the lives of Kiwi kids.

Day 21

Saturday 21st Mar

Day 21 of 31.

At this stage, it’s no longer about motivation — it’s about purpose.

Running 5km every single day has taken a toll, especially mentally. The excitement from the start has faded, and now it’s about showing up regardless of how I feel. Tired, sore, busy — none of it really matters when I remind myself why I started.

This run is for the Starship Foundation. It’s for the kids and families going through battles far tougher than a 5km run. When it gets hard for me, I think about them — and suddenly, there’s no excuse to stop.

21 days in, and the finish line is getting closer. But every step now carries more meaning. It’s not just about getting it done, it’s about staying committed to something bigger than myself.

Balancing this with shift work and family life hasn’t been easy, but my wife and kids have been everything through this. Their support keeps me grounded and pushes me to keep going, even on the toughest days.

This journey has tested me, but it’s also reminded me what resilience looks like.

We’re not done yet. Still work to do.

Day by day. Run by run. For the kids. 💙

Day 12

Thursday 12th Mar

Day 12 of running 5km every single day this month, and I won’t lie — it’s starting to get tough. The legs are heavier, the early starts and late runs after work are harder, and the body is definitely feeling the miles. But every time it gets difficult, I remind myself WHY I started.

I think about my own four kids and how blessed I am to see them run around, laugh, and grow every day. Then I think about the kids in Starship Hospital who are fighting battles no child should ever have to face. That’s what keeps me putting one foot in front of the other. Every 5km run is for them.

Doing this challenge while working shift work hasn’t been easy. Some days it means running after a long shift, other days it’s getting up early before the family wakes up. In between that, there’s family life — helping with the kids, being present at home, and making sure I’m still showing up as a husband and father.

I wouldn’t be able to do this without my amazing wife, Tilisa. She carries so much for our family, especially while I’m at work or out getting the run done. Looking after our four kids, keeping the home running, and still encouraging me to keep going when I’m exhausted — she’s the real backbone behind this challenge.

And my kids have been my biggest motivation. Every time they ask, “Did you do your run today, Dad?” OR as Jeremiah would say “Well done dad, good job” it pushes me to get it done no matter how tired I feel. Knowing they’re watching and learning about commitment, helping others, and doing hard things for a good cause means everything to me and showing them everything is possible!

Running 5km every day for 31 days is physically tiring, but the purpose behind it makes it worth every step. This journey isn’t just about running — it’s about family, resilience, and most importantly - supporting children who need it most.

So we keep going. Day by day. Step by step. For my Aiga/Famili. For the kids in hospital. And for a cause bigger than myself.

Thank you to all family and friends who have contributed it means a lot to me ❤️

My first step of this journey

Saturday 28th Feb

This March, I’m stepping up to run 5km every single day for 31 days in support of Starship Foundation.

As a father of four, I see every day how precious life and family are. I’m lucky to go home to four healthy kids. Not every family gets that blessing. Some are fighting battles inside Starship Hospital right now.

This is my first time taking on this challenge, and it won’t be easy. The discomfort I feel running each day is nothing compared to what these kids and their families go through. Every kilometre is for them. Every run is a reminder that we can all step up and make a difference.

If I can raise awareness, raise funds, and help even one child get the care they need, then it’s worth every step.
