Walking for Little Lives: A New Father’s Challenge for Starship
This summer, I’ve decided to take on my first-ever fundraising challenge for the Starship Foundation and this one is very close to my heart.
Becoming a new father has changed how I see the world. When I look at my child, I can’t help but think of the many families across New Zealand whose children are fighting serious illness or injury. No parent should ever have to face that fear alone and that’s why I’m stepping up.
I’m committing to walking 50 kilometres over the month of January and aiming to raise $500 to support the Starship National Air Ambulance. I’ve kept the challenge achievable, but the cause couldn’t be bigger.
The Starship Air Ambulance is New Zealand’s only flying Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, operating 24/7. When a child’s life hangs in the balance, a specialist paediatric flight crew can be in the air within minutes often the only lifeline to get a critically ill or injured child to Starship Hospital.
But this lifesaving service relies on people like us.
That’s why I’ll be giving it my all this summer to help keep the Starship Air Ambulance flying and to help save young lives across Aotearoa.
