I’m taking on an epic challenge this March – and I would love support.

I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge, Kilometres for Kids, to help keep Starship’s National Air Ambulance flying to children across the country who are critically ill or injured.

I'm lucky enough to be a pilot of this very plane! So I'm stoked to have the opportunity to help raise money for this cause.

If you can, please donate to help me raise money for this incredible service, the only flying Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in Aotearoa. It’s on call 24/7 – and a specialist flight crew can be in the air in a matter of minutes.

Donate now to help save the lives of Kiwi kids.

I've set a goal of 50km as the furthest I've ran in a month is 25km. So we'll see how we go and if I hit 50km I plan to just keep on going and see how many I can do!

50km done! Where to now?

Saturday 14th Mar
Thanks so much everyone for your donations and support! It's awesome to have the opportunity to raise money for the very plane that I fly and the cause it's dedicated to. We're now 2 weeks in and I've achieved my initial goal of 50km!

When I was signing up for Kilometres for Kids I had no clue what sort of goal to set, I was cautious of it being too small or too big. Usually my exercise consists of running mixed with some road/gravel cycling and mountain biking. The furthest I've run in a month prior to this was about 25km. So I thought that 50km would be a good goal for me and challenge me to be consistent. At the end of the first week I had done 25km (4km of which was walking) and was feeling good. So for this second week I pushed to do 25 again, this time all running.

I headed out to Mission Bay this morning with a plan of running 10km, but at the 10km mark I was feeling good so decided to push for 15km to complete my initial goal. In doing so I achieved my PR for 10 and 15km,  I've only ran further than 10km once before and that was for a very underprepared spur of the moment Half Marathon.

So now only 2 weeks into March I have completed my goal of 50km. This doesn't mean I'm stopping here, I'm going to keep going and see how far I can go in a month. I'm now aiming for 80-100km. Just going to keep going how I have been, pacing myself, not overdoing it, and see where I end up.
