My Kilometres for Kids challenge is dedicated to the celebration of my daughter, Maeve
I’m taking on an epic challenge this March – and I would love support.
I’m taking on a month-long walking challenge this March to help keep the Starship National Air Ambulance flying — because I’ve seen firsthand just how vital it is.
On October 26, 2022, our daughter Maeve was just one year old when she went into respiratory failure. Things deteriorated quickly, and she had to be placed into an induced sleep before her heart gave out. In those terrifying hours, the Starship Air Ambulance was not just a service — it was hope. The specialist paediatric flight crew who cared for Maeve were incredible, calm, skilled, and compassionate at a time when we genuinely thought we might lose her.
The Starship National Air Ambulance is New Zealand’s only flying Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, on call 24/7, able to be airborne within minutes. For families like ours, it can be the difference between life and loss.
That’s why I’m giving this challenge everything I’ve got — to help ensure this lifesaving service is always there for the next family who needs it. If you’re able to donate, you’d be helping keep the Starship Air Ambulance in the air and supporting critically ill and injured children all over Aotearoa. Every step I take this month is for kids like Maeve.
Thank you for supporting this cause so close to my heart 🤍
